Why Was 550 Created?
Our related architectural firm has always been trying to push the edge of technology envelope in order to improve the project management of our practice. In addition to the traditional uses of technology such as CAD and BIM, we've been managing our information over the Internet now for 7 years. We first started by creating our own web pages for information and then we started using slightly more sophisticated web-database tools for information management.
While these tools worked well for a number of years we realized that there must be something better out there. We searched for months and found many of the products that you've undoubtedly heard of and still more that you probably haven't. We felt a little like Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. These products were either too expensive or didn't have the features that we wanted.
So what do you do when you can't find what you need?
The answer was: Build it!
We created Tangentworks, LLC to be an independent software development company and we worked closely with them to develop software that would not only meet our needs but would be useful to other firms such as yours. Tangentworks is devoted to building and supporting the kind of tool that is missing from our industry.
